Black Adam: Justice Society of America characters revealed via new images

That Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will take on the Justice Society of America in the upcoming Black Adam movie was already known. Now we get a good look at the characters prior to their release on October 21.

New photos from Vanity Fair offer a look at Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Doctor Fate. Black Adam is going to take on all of them, we remember from San Diego Comic-Con.

In addition to Johnson’s Black Adam, the film features four members of the Justice Society of America: Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, and Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone. Some of those characters also appeared in the SDCC 2022 Black Adam trailer.

The Justice Society of America is deeply rooted in DC comics and debuted in 1941. On TV, we already encountered them in the Stargirl TV series.

These are uncertain times for many DC projects since the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger. The cancellation of Batgirl caused a stir and there are still a number of films and series that were affected. It’s likely that Black Adam will be a big hit for the company, but it’s unclear how it all fits into DC’s new ten-year plan.

Even the previously announced sequel to The Batman is no longer a certainty. Thanks to Black Adam’s clear connection to the DC Universe, it seems to be more involved in DC’s vision for the future, whereas The Batman was a more stand-alone project.
