‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’: Who is set to replace Chadwick Boseman?

Out of all the presentations from Marvel Studios at Hall H during last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, the most spectacular and emotional one was ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death last year was a tough one to take for everybody, but the entire production team behind this franchise is who took it the hardest.

Director Ryan Coogler wasn’t expecting this to happen, he had to completely reimagine the plot of the film and undertake the sad news in the most elegant way possible.

They presented the entire cast with a few new faces and saved a special first-look at the film. Inside the trailer, there were many great reveals but they saved the new Black Panther revelation for later.

What they did show was a small glimpse at the new Black Panther but only from the back and with some hints of gold in the costume. Fans who loved the Killmonger character from the first film were quick to point out that he would be the one taking the mantle. However, there is little evidence that this is the case.

From the shot that was shown in the trailer, it is impossible to tell if the person wearing the new Black Panther costume is a man or a woman. However, there are some hints throughout the trailer that do point to a specific character who appears in the films. We have some insight into who could be the new Black Panther.

In the trailer, Lupita Nyongo’s character Nakia shows a pregnant belly. Hinting that her and T’Challa probably had a child and he could be the one who will eventually take on the Black Panther mantle. But the person who seems better positioned to take the role right now is Shuri, T’Challa’s sister and Laetitia Wright’s character. In Black Panther Vol. 5 #5, Shuri eventually takes on the mantle during the Dark Reign saga at Marvel.

It seems onlu natural she takes it but other options are still the rumored Killmonger or M’Baku himself. The biggest rumor is that M’Baku is set to become King of Wakanda, take the Black Panther mantle fora brief period of time and then pass it on to Shuri. T’Challa’s sister goes to the ancestral realm and she is trained by Killmonger to become the new Black Panther. But take all of these rumors with a grain of salt.
